Ukraine's robotic turrets are already downing Russian jet drones, says Air Force
Ukraine's robotic turrets have already begun shooting down Russian jet-powered drones, according to Air Force spokesman Yuriy Ihnat. The military is working to maximize the number of downed targets. Ihnat urged the public not to publish photos of German-made Gepard anti-aircraft guns, saying Russia would target bridges as legitimate objectives after seeing such images. He confirmed successful interceptions of jet-powered Geran-5 drones using AI and machine vision to eliminate human error, though the turrets' range is limited by their machine guns. President Volodymyr Zelensky announced on October 4 that over 12 turrets have been installed in Kyiv, with more planned. Advisor Serhiy Beskrestnov said these Ukrainian-developed AI-controlled systems target jet-powered Shahed drones, as Russia shifts focus to drone quality over quantity.
