Ukraine strikes cripple over half of Russia's oil refining capacity
Ukraine's defence ministry confirmed that long-range strikes have knocked out more than 51% of Russia's oil refining capacity, dealing a significant blow to Moscow's economy and war effort, according to Ukrainian Defence Minister Yevhenii Khmara. The systematic drone campaign has targeted major refineries in Moscow, Yaroslavl, Kinef, Ust-Luga, Perm, Ilsky, Saratov, and Syzran. Ukraine's Defence Ministry stated it has tripled production and procurement of long-range attack drones this year to maintain pressure on deep Russian targets. The strikes have caused severe domestic fuel shortages in Russia, prompting petrol rationing, soaring gas prices, and emergency fuel export bans. Ukrainian officials said the campaign aims to bleed Russia's military and economic potential by taking the war onto Russian territory.
