Ukraine disables over 51% of Russia's oil refining capacity, Defense Ministry says
Ukraine's security and defense forces have disabled over 51% of Russia's oil refining capacity, significantly weakening the aggressor's military-economic potential, according to Ukraine's Ministry of Defense. The assessment, conducted by analysts from the General Staff, the Defense Ministry, and intelligence, follows recent long-range strikes targeting facilities including the Moscow, Yaroslavl, and Perm refineries, as well as KINEF, Ust-Luga, and others. A ministry official stated the strikes are a substantial blow to Russia's economy and ability to sustain aggression. Ukraine plans to scale up its deep strike capabilities, with drone production and procurement tripling this year. The announcement follows recent explosions at Russia's largest oil station in Samara, while President Zelensky has vowed increased attacks on Russian refineries in response to Russian air strikes.
