Drone Attack on Russian Airfield Sparks Fire, Disrupts Flights

news.telegraf.com.ua (Ukrainian) —

A mass drone attack targeted Russia's Adygea Republic overnight, causing a likely fire at a military airfield, while drones also approached Moscow. The attack occurred on October 4, with local reports of strikes on the Khanskaya airbase near Maykop. The OSINT publication Exilenova reported the attack, noting drone raids continued throughout the night and sharing photos and videos of the drones and fire. Russian official sources have ignored the incident and issued no drone threat warnings. Moscow Mayor Sergei Sobyanin claimed air defense shot down six drones heading toward the capital. The Khanskaya airfield hosts a training aviation base with L-39 aircraft and can accommodate various planes and helicopters. It was previously attacked by Ukrainian drones in October 2024. Airports in Volgograd and Sochi temporarily suspended flights due to the attack, while Vnukovo continued operations under official approval.
