Russian army loses 2,020 soldiers in one day, General Staff reports

The Ukrainian General Staff reports that the Russian army lost 2,020 soldiers in combat over the past day, from October 4 to 5. Ukrainian forces also destroyed nearly 1,900 drones and hundreds of vehicles. According to RBC-Ukraine, citing the General Staff's morning report, total Russian combat losses since February 24, 2022, are estimated at about 1,542,720 personnel. Additional daily losses include 2 tanks, 4 armored vehicles, 47 artillery systems, and 727 vehicles. In early October, the General Staff reported record Russian losses in September, with 46,230 troops eliminated. For comparison, January 2026 losses were 31,710 and February losses were 26,090.
