Russia strikes Kyiv's second major bridge, injuring two
Russia struck Kyiv's second major bridge, the Pivnichenyi (Northern) Bridge, on Saturday, injuring two people and damaging road surfaces and trolleybus lines, according to Mayor Vitaliy Klitschko. The attack follows repeated drone strikes on the Pivdennyi (Southern) Bridge this week. Klitschko said the enemy is "tearing Kyiv apart," as the strikes caused traffic congestion and cut road, rail, and trolleybus connections across the Dnipro River. Russia claims the bridges are used to transport Ukrainian troops and military supplies, and has again urged foreign nationals to leave the city. The two bridges connect Kyiv's western and eastern halves, and experts say repeated attacks could weaken their structures, potentially splitting the city. Ukrainian officials have discussed emergency plans for ferries or temporary pontoon bridges if a bridge collapses.
