Zelensky: FP-9 missile ready this fall as Ukraine targets Russian refineries
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky announced that the domestically developed FP-9 ballistic missile, capable of reaching Moscow, will be operational this fall, urging manufacturer Fire Point to expedite its finalization. Zelensky said Ukraine will intensify precision strikes on Russian oil refineries to counter Moscow's expanded pre-winter aerial campaign targeting civilian infrastructure, including roads, schools, and hospitals, based on intelligence documents. He confirmed Ukrainian long-range strikes on Russian missile positions in Bryansk and Samara regions on Oct. 3. The FP-9 follows the combat debut of the shorter-range FP-7 missile, which carries a 150-kilogram warhead up to 250 kilometers. Fire Point also leads the European FREYJA initiative for low-cost ballistic missile interceptors.
