EU stands firm on Ukraine support despite Russian threats to diplomats in Kyiv
The European Union will not reduce support for Ukraine despite Russian threats against diplomats in Kyiv, stating the Kremlin is losing the war and composure. The EU diplomatic mission's position remains unwavering, and pressure on Moscow will increase. EU Commission spokesperson Christian Wigand said Russia's intimidation attempts will fail, as the bloc continues supporting Ukraine, exposing Russian actions, and intensifying sanctions. The EU has implemented its largest sanctions package, including new restrictions over the deportation of Ukrainian children, and approved defense procurement plans worth 28.3 billion euros plus 6.6 billion euros in military aid. Russia recently urged foreign diplomats to leave Ukraine, warning of massive attacks, prompting reports of possible embassy relocations to Lviv or Poland. Ukraine's foreign ministry denies evacuation plans, and the EU confirms its Kyiv representation status remains unchanged.
