Ukraine's Spys interceptor drone passes successful test, Zelensky says
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky announced that the new Ukrainian Shahed interceptor, named Spys, has passed a successful test, as reported on October 4. During a briefing with journalists, Zelensky confirmed the positive test result for the Spys interceptor. He also mentioned a new small missile, Nika, intended to counter jet-powered Shahed drones, with trials planned. Discussions with German Chancellor Friedrich Merz in Kyiv focused on strengthening air defense, including increasing German production of Patriot missile systems. Zelensky additionally revealed a contract with German defense company Flensburger Fahrzeugbau Gesellschaft (FFG), estimated at around 2 billion euros. This follows recent Ukrainian developments of interceptor drones, including successful combat tests of two companies' models on September 18 and the Zorelit v5 interceptor's internal trials completed on September 21.
