pravda.com.ua (Ukrainian) —

German Chancellor Friedrich Merz described his trip to Kyiv amid intensified Russian attacks on the Ukrainian capital, saying he heard three air raid sirens but never had to seek shelter. Merz told journalists in Kyiv that he received close and reliable support from the German embassy and the Ukrainian government given the real threat. That morning, Russia again attacked the North Bridge in Kyiv, injuring people. Germany announced a major aid package for Ukraine exceeding 1 billion euros. Earlier on October 4, Merz visited the National Academy of Sciences in Kyiv, damaged by a Russian strike, and called on Vladimir Putin to stop attacks and show readiness for negotiations.
