US plans Ukraine-Russia talks by end of October, Zelensky says

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky announced that the US plans to mediate new trilateral expert-level talks with Ukraine and Russia by the end of October to end the war. Washington is in contact with both sides regarding the meeting. Zelensky confirmed Ukraine's readiness to support the timeline after speaking with US representatives on Saturday. He did not specify a location but said Ukraine is open to the United Arab Emirates or another country proposed by the US side. Previous negotiation rounds since President Donald Trump returned to the White House in January 2025 have yielded no breakthrough. Russia's invasion, ongoing since February 2022, continues with daily attacks, while both sides have intensified strikes in recent months.
