Russian strikes on Kyiv bridges threaten to paralyze logistics
Russia has expanded its campaign against Ukrainian infrastructure, systematically attacking bridges across the Dnipro River in Kyiv. Over the past three days, Russian forces struck the capital's bridges six times, causing significant traffic restrictions and disrupting city life. According to The New York Times, three drones hit a bridge in southern Kyiv on Thursday, the same bridge was attacked twice on Friday, and a bridge in the northern part of the city was struck on Saturday morning. The structures held, but damage and the threat of further attacks led local authorities to restrict or fully halt traffic on five of Kyiv's six road bridges, complicating movement across the Dnipro-divided city. About one million people live primarily on the left bank, while most government buildings and business centers are on the right. The NYT notes the bridges are the latest target in Russia's broader campaign against Ukrainian infrastructure far from the front lines.
