Ukraine installs 12+ turrets in Kyiv to counter Russian drone attacks
Ukraine has installed over 12 weapon turrets in Kyiv to strengthen the capital's defense against Russian drone attacks, President Volodymyr Zelensky announced on October 4 during a briefing with German Chancellor Friedrich Merz. Zelensky emphasized that effective air defense requires a combined approach, including interceptor drones, which are currently insufficient in number and success rate. He stated Russia is shifting tactics from mass Shahed drone attacks to faster jet-powered drones that are harder to detect. The president noted Russia possesses up to 700 ballistic missiles and produces 130-140 monthly, urging sanctions, strikes on production sites, and supply chain disruption as countermeasures.
