Russian strike kills one, injures three on civilian ship in Odesa port
Russia attacked a civilian vessel in an Odesa region port, killing one crew member and injuring three others. The 13-member crew was evacuated to safety. The Ukrainian Sea Ports Administration reported the strike targeted a civilian cargo ship flying the Liberian flag. Officials called it another deliberate Russian attack on civilian shipping, noting Moscow continues to terrorize the commercial fleet and sailors working Ukrainian maritime routes. Systematic Russian shelling of Odesa ports and Black Sea attacks have severely disrupted shipping, halting grain exports via the maritime corridor at peak season. Since July 21, almost no vessels have entered Ukrainian ports, prompting discussions on reviving "solidarity lanes." On September 11, Türkiye proposed a seven-point plan to unblock exports from Ukrainian and Russian Black Sea ports.
