Kyiv on edge after Russian strikes hit key bridges
Russian strikes hit Kyiv's North Bridge on Saturday, days after an attack on the South Bridge, according to Mayor Vitali Klitschko, while Russia urged diplomats and foreigners to leave the city. The North Bridge's roadway and trolleybus cables were damaged, and traffic was halted in one direction across the Dnieper River. Russia's Foreign Ministry warned that those ignoring the evacuation call bear responsibility for consequences, as "massive retaliatory strikes" on military targets continue. Kyiv residents face constant danger, with transport disrupted by bridge closures, fuel stations and supermarkets targeted, and central districts quieter as wealthier residents and international staff have left, following recent drone strikes on the Academy of Sciences and intelligence headquarters.
