EU Envoy: Russia Threatens Kyiv Embassies to Intimidate Europe
The EU ambassador to Ukraine, Katarina Maternova, said Russia is threatening foreign diplomatic missions in Kyiv to intimidate Europe and reduce its support for Ukraine. She confirmed all EU embassies remain operational in the capital. Maternova responded to a Russian Foreign Ministry statement from October 3 warning foreigners and diplomatic staff to leave Ukraine. She said Moscow wants to scare Europe but will not succeed, adding that responsibility for Russian attacks lies solely with Russia. Russia has intensified attacks on Kyiv using jet drones that are harder to intercept. The EU delegation and all member state embassies continue working in the city, despite recent reports of contingency plans to relocate embassies.
