Kyiv to Launch 18 Extra Shuttle Trains Across Dnipro After Bridge Strikes
Ukraine's national railway operator Ukrzaliznytsia will launch 18 additional Kyiv City Express shuttle trains between the right and left banks of the Dnipro River in Kyiv to mitigate traffic disruptions caused by Russian strikes on bridges. The additional shuttle services on the Vydubychi–Darnytsia route will operate from October 5 to 9 during peak morning and evening hours, with stops at Bereznyaky station. Regular commuter and regional trains connecting Kyiv with Nizhyn, Hrebinky, Konotop, and Slavutych also remain available for cross-river travel. The measure follows Russian drone attacks on the Pivdennyi (South) Bridge that halted metro and ground transport, causing a transport collapse on October 2. City authorities restricted traffic on the Metro Bridge and Patona Bridge, redirecting public transport via the Darnytskyi Bridge, with commutes potentially extended by one to two hours.
