Ukraine and Germany finalize energy aid and joint projects
Ukrainian Energy Minister Denys Shmyhal revealed details of energy and financial agreements with Germany following Chancellor Friedrich Merz's visit to Kyiv, including over 557 million euros in German contributions to the Energy Support Fund. Germany announced additional aid that will push its total contribution beyond 800 million euros. Shmyhal discussed joint projects in distributed generation, energy storage, grid modernization, gas infrastructure, and critical facility protection with German Economy Minister Katerina Reiche. Germany also pledged 50 million euros for the Chornobyl Shelter facility restoration. Shmyhal invited German partners to the EBRD donor conference in Paris on November 9. Germany's overall aid package exceeds 1.3 billion euros, and Ukraine and Germany are preparing a drone agreement.
