EU rejects Russian threats, keeps diplomats in Kyiv
The European Union has rejected Russian threats urging foreign diplomats to leave Kyiv, stating its diplomats will continue working in the Ukrainian capital. EU Commission spokesperson Christian Wigand said Moscow's actions show the Kremlin is losing composure and failing in the war. Wigand stated Russia is attempting to intimidate European states into reducing support for Ukraine, but threats will not change Europe's position. He confirmed the EU will continue supporting Ukraine, denounce Russia's actions, and increase pressure, while working on its largest-ever sanctions package against Russia. Russia's Foreign Ministry on Saturday recommended foreigners and diplomats leave Kyiv, warning of continued massive strikes. The Guardian reported Western states are preparing contingency plans to relocate missions to Lviv or eastern Poland, though Ukraine's Foreign Ministry said it has no knowledge of such intentions.
