Ukraine's air defense intercepted 172 of 205 Russian drones launched since the evening of October 4, though some strikes were recorded, and the attack is ongoing. The Ukrainian Air Force reported that 172 Shahed, Gerbera, and other drones were shot down or suppressed by 8:00 a.m., with hits confirmed at 13 locations and debris falling at 3 sites. Drones were launched from Russian cities including Orel, Kursk, and Millerovo, as well as occupied Donetsk and Crimea, with 49 being jet-powered. Aviation, missile troops, and electronic warfare units are repelling the assault, with about ten drones still in Ukrainian airspace.
