Russian Drone Strike on Kyiv Bridge Halts Traffic Across Dnipro
A Russian jet-powered drone struck the Pivnichnyi (North) Bridge in Kyiv overnight Saturday, damaging the roadway and trolleybus network and halting traffic across the Dnipro River, Mayor Vitali Klitschko said. The attack paralyzed movement between the city's right and left banks. Klitschko said the capital must now live under wartime conditions, stating "the enemy is destroying Kyiv." Authorities have closed three other Dnipro bridges—the Yuzhnyi, Patona, and Metro bridges—following recent drone strikes, causing massive traffic jams as residents sought alternate routes or walked. One person was killed and two wounded in a separate strike on a residential building in southeastern Kyiv. President Volodymyr Zelensky accused Russia of violating all rules of war, claiming Moscow declared "there are no rules now." Kyiv has faced near-constant air raid alerts, disrupting daily life for its three million residents. Zelensky urged tougher sanctions on Russian drone production and renewed calls for Western military aid, including Patriot systems.
