Russian strike damages another key Kyiv bridge
Russian attacks hit Kyiv's North Bridge today, days after the South Bridge was struck, announced the Ukrainian capital's mayor, Vitali Klitschko. Emergency services are responding, and the bridge is closed to traffic from the left to the right bank of the Dnieper River. The attack damaged the road surface and electrical cables, according to Klitschko. The South Bridge was hit by Russian drones on Thursday and Friday, causing closures and major traffic jams. This marks the second major bridge attack on Kyiv in recent days. Kyiv has feared attacks on its eight main road and rail bridges since the 2022 Russian invasion, as they are vital to the capital's logistics. City authorities also restricted traffic on the Paton and Metro bridges on Friday, and AFP journalists observed temporary restrictions on a fourth bridge, Darnytsky.
