Zelensky Proposes Ceasefire with Russia, Rules Out Ukrainian Airstrikes

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has proposed a temporary ceasefire with Russia, pledging that Ukraine will not launch airstrikes. This offer comes as US envoys are scheduled to visit Ukraine this weekend. Zelensky confirmed that Jared Kushner and Steve Witkoff will visit to discuss a peace agreement, and Ukrainian diplomats are preparing to receive them. He urged Russia to halt attacks and cooperate with the US initiative, expressing concern for the envoys' safety rather than Russia's. Russia recently struck Ukraine's intelligence headquarters, and attacks have continued in Kyiv and other cities, killing and injuring civilians. India's Foreign Minister S. Jaishankar also stated India is ready to help mediate an end to the conflict.
