Trump envoys Witkoff and Kushner head to Kiev as Russian strikes continue

Donald Trump's peace envoys Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner are expected to arrive in Kiev this weekend for their first visit during his second term, as Russian attacks on the capital enter a ninth consecutive day. Trump confirmed the trip on Friday, stating they carry a plan to end the war. The envoys are scheduled to meet Vladimir Putin in Moscow on Saturday before traveling to Kiev to see Volodymyr Zelenskyy on Sunday. Ukrainian forces have reportedly been ordered to halt attacks for four days, with Zelenskyy pledging no Ukrainian airstrikes during the talks and urging Russia to reciprocate. Overnight Russian strikes killed four people near Dnipro and damaged a building in Boryspil. Over 50 people have been killed and about 100 wounded in the recent attacks on Kiev, according to Kyiv Independent, while Ukraine has responded with long-range strikes on Russian oil infrastructure. The visit follows months of planning and comes after CIA chief John Ratcliffe met Russian intelligence officials in Moscow last week.
