US envoys Witkoff and Kushner to visit Kyiv and Moscow with peace plan
US peace envoys Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner will visit Kyiv and Moscow this weekend with a proposal to end the war in Ukraine, President Donald Trump announced Friday, as Russian strikes killed four in Ukraine's Dnipropetrovsk region overnight. The envoys arrived in Moscow on Saturday, per Interfax, and are due in Kyiv on Sunday for their first visits since Trump returned to office. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy confirmed the trip, pledging to pause Ukrainian strikes for safety while urging Russia to do the same. Zelenskyy said Russia struck Kyiv and Boryspol airports overnight, calling the attacks deliberate and a reaction to the planned meetings, and warned Ukraine would adjust its airspace operations next week.
