Putin meets US envoys in Kremlin to revive Ukraine peace talks

Russian President Vladimir Putin met with US envoys Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner at the Kremlin on Saturday for talks aimed at reviving stalled peace negotiations to end the Russia-Ukraine war, as both sides agreed to pause strikes on each other's capitals during the discussions. The envoys will visit Kyiv for the first time in the peace process on Sunday, Ukrainian officials said. Putin ordered no strikes against Kyiv for three days starting midnight, while Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said Ukraine was prepared to halt strikes on Moscow until Monday. The peace push has lost momentum as US attention shifted to the Iran war over the past six months. Russian attacks killed five people at an industrial facility in Ukraine's Dnipropetrovsk region, while Ukraine's air force reported shooting down 128 of 167 drones launched overnight. Zelenskyy linked Russian strikes on Kyiv airports to the US visit, saying Ukraine would adjust its operations regarding Russian airspace next week.
