Putin and U.S. envoys meet in Moscow to revive Ukraine peace talks

Russian President Vladimir Putin met with U.S. envoys Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner at the Kremlin on Saturday to revive stalled peace talks aimed at ending the Russia-Ukraine war, as both sides agreed to pause strikes on each other's capitals during the discussions. The envoys' visit came amid intensified aerial attacks, with Russia striking Kyiv airports and killing five people at a Ukrainian industrial site. Putin ordered no strikes on Kyiv for three days, while Ukraine agreed to halt attacks on Moscow until Monday. The U.S. delegation will visit Kyiv for the first time on Sunday. Peace efforts have lost momentum as U.S. attention shifted to the Iran war over the past six months. The envoys last visited Moscow in January, and Russia has escalated bombardments, exploiting Ukraine's air defence shortages, while Ukraine targets Russian military and economic infrastructure.
