Putin ends marathon talks with Trump envoys Witkoff and Kushner

A multi-hour meeting between Russian President Vladimir Putin and US President Donald Trump's special envoys Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner has concluded, according to Russian media. The talks lasted over three hours, and the delegation's motorcade has left the Kremlin. No official results have been commented on yet. The meeting began around 20:00 and included Putin's aide Yuri Ushakov and special representative Kirill Dmitriev, in addition to the main participants. Witkoff and Kushner arrived in Russia on September 5, tasked by Trump with presenting a proposal to end the war. They are expected to visit Kyiv on Sunday, September 6. Ahead of the visit, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said Ukrainian forces would ensure Russian airspace functioned normally for the negotiators' safe arrival, urging Moscow to refrain from strikes. The Kremlin subsequently stated Putin ordered no attacks on Kyiv from September 5-8. Russian strikes on Ukraine continued on September 5, which Zelensky interpreted as a reaction to the US delegation's planned arrival.
