Russia strikes SBU building in central Kyiv; drone hits chief's office

Russia struck a Security Service of Ukraine (SBU) building in central Kyiv with a drone, which hit the office of SBU chief Oleksandr Poklad, according to President Volodymyr Zelensky. Casualties were reported. Zelensky said he spoke with Poklad and ordered an adequate, sensitive, and, if possible, mirror response to Russia once preparations are complete. Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha called the attack a serious escalation, noting it occurred during a renewed peace campaign, and urged international partners to increase pressure on Moscow. The damaged building is opposite the UNESCO World Heritage Site, St. Sophia Cathedral, with the National Reserve "Sophia Kyiv" reporting broken windows and a destroyed glass entrance. Kyiv Mayor Vitaliy Klitschko reported 12 injured, nine hospitalized, two in serious condition. Zelensky announced active response actions are being prepared.
