Putin Meets US Envoys in Moscow, Orders Three-Day Ceasefire
A meeting between Russian President Vladimir Putin and US special envoys Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner has begun in Moscow, with Putin describing the situation as "difficult." Putin also ordered a three-day halt to attacks on Ukraine starting at midnight. During the meeting, Putin stated that contact between Moscow and Washington is always useful. Witkoff conveyed President Trump's greetings and thanks for a ceasefire during the envoys' visit, to which Putin pledged to ensure the mediators' safety. Ukrainian President Zelenskyy said Kyiv is ready to observe a ceasefire on air strikes against cities involved in negotiations. The envoys landed in Moscow Saturday morning and are scheduled to travel to Kyiv on Sunday. Zelenskyy reported Russian drone attacks on Kyiv and Boryspil airports, calling them a direct response to US diplomacy plans. Ukraine's airspace has been closed since 2022.
