Russian drone hits Kyiv security service HQ; Zelenskiy vows retaliation

A Russian drone struck the headquarters of Ukraine’s SBU security service in central Kyiv on Friday, injuring at least seven people, as President Volodymyr Zelenskiy vowed retaliation. The attack marks a rare direct hit on a Ukrainian government building during the war. Zelenskiy said the drone was aimed at the SBU chief's office and ordered a "tangible response" that mirrors the strike where possible. Kyiv Mayor Vitali Klitschko confirmed the injuries, while emergency services responded near Saint Sophia Cathedral. The SBU has led major operations, including the 2022 Crimea bridge bombing. The strike occurred amid a 10th consecutive day of Russian drone attacks on Kyiv, following a university hit on Wednesday. The attack also destroyed a nearby bakery, and it remains unclear if SBU personnel were among the injured.
