Trump sends envoys with peace plan to Moscow and Kyiv
President Donald Trump announced Friday he is sending envoys Jared Kushner and Steve Witkoff to Moscow and Kyiv with a plan to end the four-year Ukraine war, marking their first visit to Kyiv since Trump returned to office. The envoys, who have previously visited Moscow and faced accusations of favoring Russia, will carry a peace proposal, though Trump declined to say if it involves Ukrainian territorial concessions. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky proposed a reciprocal ceasefire during their visit, with the envoys expected in Kyiv on Sunday. Trump blamed the conflict on a "personality problem" between Putin and Zelensky, downplayed German allegations of a Russian drone attack on NATO territory, and reiterated his demand that Europeans repay US aid provided under Joe Biden.
