Putin pauses Kyiv strikes as US envoys visit Moscow for talks

Russian President Vladimir Putin has ordered a three-day pause in strikes on Kyiv starting Saturday, coinciding with the arrival of US envoys Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner for talks aimed at reviving diplomatic efforts to end the Ukraine war. Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said Putin was scheduled to meet the two US special representatives on Saturday, following their arrival in Moscow. The visit follows President Donald Trump's Friday statement that Washington had a fresh, concrete proposal to end the conflict, now in its fifth year. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said the envoys were expected to travel to Ukraine after Moscow, and Kyiv had proposed a temporary halt to air attacks, pledging no strikes from its side to ensure safe talks.
