Putin Meets Trump Envoys on Ukraine War, Agrees to Three-Day Truce

Russian President Vladimir Putin met Saturday with US envoys Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner in Moscow for talks on ending the war in Ukraine, acknowledging "the situation is not simple" at the start of the roughly three-hour meeting. The Kremlin meeting, also attended by senior Russian officials, came after both sides agreed to a three-day suspension of attacks on Moscow and Kiev. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky announced the truce earlier Saturday, following a similar pledge by Putin, to facilitate the US delegation's travel. The envoys will travel to Kiev on Sunday for their first meeting with Zelensky since Trump's second term began. Ukraine's airspace has been closed to civilian aviation since February 2022, though the ceasefire could allow the US plane to land directly.
