Ukraine urges stronger pressure on Russia after SBU strike near UNESCO site

Ukrainian Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha called on international partners to increase pressure on Russia following a strike on the central building of the Security Service of Ukraine (SBU). Sybiha stated on X that the Russian attack is a serious escalation requiring decisive responses, noting Moscow struck during renewed peace efforts and that the UNESCO World Heritage site, St. Sophia Cathedral, was also under threat. He urged partners to firmly condemn the actions and pressure Putin's regime, while calling on UNESCO to protect Ukraine's cultural heritage. On September 4, a Russian drone hit the office of acting SBU head Oleksandr Poklad in Kyiv, who was absent at the time. Reports indicated Trump's special envoys were considering alternative plans for a Kyiv visit due to Russian intimidation, while Axios said they would travel to Moscow and Kyiv this weekend for ceasefire talks.
