Russia strikes Kyiv overnight despite proposed ceasefire for US envoys

Russia continued bombing Kyiv overnight despite a proposed ceasefire for a US envoy visit, injuring at least two people, Ukrainian media reported. Ukraine ordered its forces to halt attacks on Russia from September 5-8 for US special envoys Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner's visits to Kyiv and Moscow. Kyiv reportedly proposed the pause, but no official truce was declared. Russia continued strikes on Kyiv, Poltava, Dnipro, and Odessa regions. Kyiv Governor Tymur Tkachenko said Russia hit Boryspil, 29 kilometers from Kyiv, injuring two women hospitalized. A nine-story building's roof and top floor caught fire. The attacks mark a ninth consecutive day of strikes, killing over 50 and wounding over 100.
