A Russian drone struck the headquarters of the Security Service of Ukraine (SBU) in central Kyiv on September 4, causing a fire in the building. Nine people were injured, with seven hospitalized. Kyiv Mayor Vitali Klitschko reported the drone hit a non-residential building in the Shevchenkivskyi district. President Volodymyr Zelensky confirmed the attack, stating the drone targeted the office of acting SBU chief Oleksandr Poklad, who was not present at the time. Zelensky vowed Ukraine would respond "adequately, tangibly, and, if possible, in a mirror fashion" once preparations are complete. Photos from the scene showed smoke rising from two windows of the five-story structure.
