Putin declares 3-day cease-fire as Kushner and Witkoff land in Moscow for talks

Russian President Vladimir Putin declared a three-day cease-fire in Ukraine starting Saturday midnight, coinciding with the arrival of Jared Kushner and US envoy Steve Witkoff in Moscow for peace talks. Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said the halt on strikes against Kyiv was ordered to facilitate American contacts. Witkoff and Kushner landed at Vnukovo Airport, were greeted by Russian envoy Kirill Dmitriev, and plan to visit Kyiv on Sunday to meet Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky. The trip follows CIA Director John Ratcliffe’s August 25 Moscow visit and renewed US efforts to end the conflict. President Trump said Friday his intermediaries were pushing for peace after over four years of fighting.
