U.S. envoys Witkoff and Kushner visit Moscow to revive Russia-Ukraine peace talks

U.S. envoys Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner arrived in Moscow on Saturday to revive stalled peace efforts in Russia's five-year war against Ukraine, as Russian President Vladimir Putin ordered a 72-hour pause in strikes on Kyiv ahead of their planned visit. The envoys were met by Russian envoy Kirill Dmitriev, who posted photos captioned "Welcome to Moscow Peacemakers." Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said Ukraine would halt airstrikes during the trip and expected the envoys in Kyiv on Sunday. The peace push has lost momentum as U.S. attention shifted to its war with Iran. Russia intensified aerial attacks recently, including a Friday drone strike on Ukraine's SBU security service headquarters. Overnight, Russia launched ballistic missiles and 167 drones, killing five at a Dnipropetrovsk industrial site and wounding others across multiple regions. Zelenskyy linked the strikes to the envoys' visit, warning Russia's airspace had become dangerous.
