Russian Drone Strikes Kyiv SBU Headquarters, Zelensky Says Director Targeted
A Russian drone struck the headquarters of Ukraine's Security Service (SBU) in central Kyiv, according to President Volodymyr Zelensky, who accused Moscow of attempting to kill the agency's director. Five people were injured in the attack. Zelensky stated the drone hit the SBU's central building on Volodymyrska Street, near Saint Sophia Cathedral, and was aimed at the office of SBU Director Oleksandr Poklad. A large column of smoke was seen rising from the site following the strike. Ukraine's Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha called the attack a major escalation, urging Kyiv's allies to increase pressure on Russia. He said Moscow launched the strike during renewed peace efforts, exposing its rejection of democracy.
