Russian drone hits Kyiv security service HQ; Zelensky vows response

A Russian drone struck the headquarters of the Security Service of Ukraine (SBU) in Kyiv on Friday, according to Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, who vowed retaliation. At least five people were injured in the strike on the central city, said Kyiv Mayor Vitali Klitschko. Zelensky ordered SBU chief Oleksandr Poklad to prepare a "proportionate and tangible" response, while Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha called the attack a "significant escalation" endangering a nearby UNESCO-listed cathedral. The strike came amid renewed peace efforts, which Sybiha said reveals Moscow's rejection of diplomacy. Russia has recently intensified daytime drone attacks using jet-powered UAVs that are difficult to intercept.
