Russia strikes Kyiv SBU building, Ukraine calls it 'serious escalation'
Ukraine's Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha called Russia's September 4 drone strike on the Security Service of Ukraine (SBU) building in Kyiv a "serious escalation" demanding a decisive response, stating Moscow acted as peace efforts were resuming. Sybiha said the attack endangered the UNESCO World Heritage site, St. Sophia Cathedral, and urged international partners to condemn the strike and increase pressure on Russia. President Volodymyr Zelensky reported the drone targeted the SBU chief's office, while Kyiv Mayor Vitaliy Klitschko said nine people were injured. The strike is part of Russia's regular attacks on Ukrainian cities and civilian infrastructure, which Ukrainian authorities and international organizations classify as war crimes.
