Trump Envoys Meet Putin in Moscow to Revive Ukraine Peace Talks

Russian President Vladimir Putin opened peace negotiations on Ukraine in Moscow on Saturday with White House envoys Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner, acknowledging the situation is "not easy" as both sides seek to revive stalled talks. The meeting at the Grand Kremlin Palace included Kremlin foreign policy adviser Yuri Ushakov and economic envoy Kirill Dmitriev. Putin praised President Trump's efforts, while the envoys will travel to Kiev afterward to meet Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky. Both leaders ordered a three-day suspension of air strikes on each other's capitals to facilitate the mediators' visit. Negotiations have been deadlocked since February, and Putin has rejected a prolonged ceasefire or trilateral summit unless it involves signing a final peace agreement. Reports suggest Moscow was willing to freeze the southern front in exchange for Ukraine ceding the entire Donbass region.
