US envoys meet Putin in Moscow to revive Ukraine peace talks

US envoys Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner met Vladimir Putin in Moscow as Washington seeks to revive stalled peace efforts, with both Russia and Ukraine agreeing to temporarily halt strikes on each other’s capitals. The Saturday Kremlin talks preceded the envoys’ expected first Kyiv visit on Sunday. Putin ordered a three-day halt on strikes against Kyiv, while Ukraine agreed to refrain from attacking Moscow through Monday. Trump said the envoys carried a peace proposal to assess progress. The diplomatic push comes amid intensified attacks, including Russian strikes on Kyiv airports that killed at least seven people Saturday. Zelenskyy accused Moscow of trying to disrupt the visit. The trip follows CIA Director John Ratcliffe’s rare Moscow visit last month.
