The United States has asked Russia and Ukraine to suspend mutual strikes during the upcoming visit of American envoys Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner to Moscow and Kyiv, according to informed sources. The New York Times reported, citing US officials, that Washington insisted Ukraine halt drone attacks on Moscow and vital Russian facilities while the envoys are in Russia, with Russia reciprocally pausing missile strikes on Kyiv. The visit follows weeks of negotiations. Bloomberg previously reported the envoys were expected in Moscow on Saturday to meet President Vladimir Putin, then travel to Kyiv on Sunday for talks with Volodymyr Zelensky. Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov did not confirm the visit, while Zelensky pledged Ukraine would ensure normal Russian airspace operations during the trip.
