Putin orders three-day halt to strikes on Kyiv as US envoys arrive in Moscow

Russian President Vladimir Putin has ordered a three-day halt to strikes against Kyiv, effective today, according to Russian news agency Interfax citing Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov. The move coincides with the arrival in Moscow of US envoys Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner. The American envoys' motorcade departed from Moscow's airport toward the Russian capital, with Putin expected to meet them today, Peskov told TASS. Russian presidential envoy Kirill Dmitriev, who received Witkoff and Kushner, previously participated in negotiations with Putin and played a role in talks on suspending US sanctions on Russian oil. According to Axios, Witkoff and Kushner are expected in Kyiv on Sunday to meet Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky. Earlier today, Zelensky accused Russia of striking airports in the Kyiv area and nearby Boryspil, calling the attacks a reaction to preparations for a possible US aircraft landing in Ukraine.
