Putin's envoy calls Witkoff-Kushner Moscow visit 'important peacemaking step'

Russian official Kirill Dmitriev described the Moscow visit of US envoys Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner as an "important peacemaking visit," marking the first official Russian government assessment following their three-hour meeting with President Vladimir Putin on the American initiative to end the war in Ukraine. Dmitriev, Putin's top representative for international investment, escorted Witkoff and Kushner back to the airport as they departed for Kyiv. He had previously welcomed them upon arrival, posting videos on X with peace dove emojis. Putin told the envoys he enjoys comfortable cooperation with them and that they enjoy Russia's full trust as mediators. Putin asked the envoys to convey his warmest wishes and sincere gratitude to President Trump, acknowledging the difficult path ahead. He stated that whatever happens next, contacts of this kind are always beneficial, and that the quality of mediation and trust in mediators is very important.
