Russian Strikes Hit Kyiv Airports Ahead of Trump Envoys' Visit
Russian strikes targeted Kyiv's two airports overnight, which Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky called an attempt to disrupt the planned visit of US envoys. The attacks occurred as Donald Trump's emissaries Jared Kushner and Steve Witkoff arrived in Moscow on Saturday for talks. Kushner and Witkoff landed at Moscow's Vnukovo airport at 12:52 local time, carrying what Trump described as a peace proposal. They are scheduled to meet Russian President Vladimir Putin on Saturday and travel to Kyiv on Sunday, which would mark their first visit to Ukraine as mediators. Zelensky said the envoys might fly into Kyiv, which would be exceptional since Ukrainian airspace has been closed since Russia's February 2022 invasion. A Russian attack on Kamianske city killed at least five people early Saturday. Trump attributed the war to a "personality problem" between Zelensky and Putin.
