Russian strike wounds Moldovan border officer near Palanca post
A Moldovan border police officer was injured Monday when a projectile struck near the Palanca border post during Russian attacks on neighboring Ukrainian infrastructure, marking the first such incident in Moldova since the war began. The projectile ricocheted after impact and hit a parked bus, also damaging a control booth. The injured officer sustained minor wounds, with no other casualties reported. Operations at the crossing, located 60 kilometers from Odessa, were temporarily suspended. Moldova has summoned Russia's ambassador twice in the past week over increased airspace violations. Authorities recorded 81 violations since 2022, with 44 this year, and other NATO eastern-flank countries like Romania have also seen more drone incidents.
