cnn.gr (Greek) —

Two crew members died and 11 were rescued after a fire broke out on a commercial ship in the Black Sea, according to Romania's Interior Ministry, which said the rescue operation is ongoing. The incident occurred in Romania's exclusive economic zone. The Romanian coast guard was alerted around 11:00 local time by the Constanta operational center about the fire on the vessel, located about 30 nautical miles south of Sfintu Gheorghe. The Defense Ministry did not immediately respond to questions about a possible drone strike. The country's Maritime Authority identified the ship as the Royad Mammadov. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
